Software
What really makes computing effective in the classroom is the right software. We utilize Microsoft's Office (Word PowerPoint, Excel) products on both the Apple and PC platforms. Apple's iLife suite (iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD) is a fun way for students to create meaningful video and slide show projects. Comic Life is used by teachers and students to create story books. Inspiration is mapping software that allows students to map out their thoughts and ideas and then neatly arrange them into an outline and even export their work into Microsoft Word. Garage Band is an audio program where students can create their own music or record a podcast. Skype is used by teachers to connect to classrooms around the world. Teachers use Apple's iWeb to update and maintain their classroom web pages. And Secondary teachers are starting to use GradeQuick to keep track of their classroom grades.
