District Funding
The fiscal year for school districts, as mandated by state law, begins July 1st of each year and ends June 30th. The Board of Education, as permitted by state law, adopts a temporary appropriation measure through September. This proposed General Fund appropriation, as well as all other fund appropriations, is the result of a great deal of work contributed by many people which begins in March. This requested spending authority is not the amount actually expected to be spent. Rather, it is intended to be a conservative amount that District officials can utilize if needed. History has shown that the District’s actual spending typically totals 98%, or less, of the appropriation measure.
