Elementary Groundbreaking
State dollars return to Euclid:
Euclid Schools hold groundbreaking for
four new elementary schools
The Euclid Schools celebrated the groundbreaking of four new elementary buildings throughout the city on Friday, June 3rd.
The elementary schools are being built with a combination of Ohio School Facilities Commission funds and voter approved funding from November 2009. About 41% of the cost for the buildings is from state funding. Funding for this project is separate from the May 2011 operating levy. The consolidation plan will close Indian Hills and Lincoln elementary schools and the child development center, repurpose Memorial Park, and rebuild Glenbrook, Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, Upson elementary schools. The community will benefit from an estimated operational savings of at least $1 million annually from the consolidation.
The community will not only be getting new buildings in their neighborhoods, but the district is using the local workforce and local companies for some of the work to help the local economy as well.
