Issue 128
The future of our neighborhoods, our children – and our entire Euclid community depends on Issue 128. Our schools have achieved real progress in the past few years. Without Issue 128, millions in cuts will have to be made. Those cuts will impact the classroom, hurt education, and harm our entire community. Strong schools are the core to a great economy. We request your assistance for the success of this campaign.
Euclid Fact Sheet
Our Schools Are Improving
Euclid students are entering college and the workforce prepared with the skills and technology they need from programs like vocational ed, advanced placement, PSEO and honors courses.
Our District has consistently increased our ratings on the State report card and have improved our graduation rate to nearly 90 percent.
Our District has been Responsible with Taxpayers' Money
The District earned the "Making Your Tax Dollars Count" from the State Auditor's Office. Less than 5% of the State's government agencies are eligible for this award.
The District has cut 2.5 million dollars to make the previous levy's funds last longer. An additional $2.5 million will be cut before the start of the next school year.
Despite these efforts the Euclid City School District is facing a budget crisis. The operating costs of the district are rising at a rate that we can't keep up with. We've made millions of dollars in cuts to keep pace with inflation, while maintaining excellence in education, but that progress is at risk.
The Ballot Initiative
Issue 128 is a 6.9 mill, ten year emergency levy. With its brevity, the Euclid Schools will continue to be accountable to taxpayers.
Without Issue 128, millions more in cuts will have to be made. And those cuts will impact the classroom and hurt education, and they will hurt our entire community. Without Issue 128, the Euclid Schools will have to cut $5.6 million more from their budget. These cuts will prevent us from preserving the progress we've worked so hard for.
Additional money will be used to provide strong school discipline and secure school buildings so our children and our neighborhoods are safe, secure advanced placement and honors classes for high school students and to provide technology and computers so students are better prepared for college or the workforce when they graduate.
Euclid can't survive without quality schools. Losing won't just hurt our schools and students - it will hurt every one of us. A strong school district is critical for Euclid's future. Without Issue 128, mandated cuts will cripple our schools, hurt our children, depress home values, and change Euclid for the worse.
