New Buildings
The Euclid City School District, in partnership with the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC), is in the Design Phase of a project to construct four (4) new K-5 elementary schools to replace the existing elementary schools. The new schools will be constructed on the sites of the existing Glenbrook, Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and Upson Elementary Schools. The scope of the Projects, in addition to the new K-5 school buildings, includes driveways, parking lots, utilities, playing fields, playgrounds, landscaping, and the demolition of a portion of the nine (9) existing elementary schools. Currently, the projects are scheduled for bidding in February/March of 2011 with construction starting in April 2011. The four (4) buildings will be constructed concurrently with a completion date of July 2012.
The Euclid City School District has made a commitment to try to maximize the participation of Euclid-based businesses and residents in the construction of these new facilities. A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, October 14, 2010, to discuss the project with all interested Euclid-based businesses. The meeting will be held in the Little Theatre at Euclid High School, starting at 4:00 p.m. All Euclid-based local contractors, material/equipment suppliers, and manufacturers are invited to attend this meeting to obtain more information on the projects. There will also be a presentation from the OSFC at this meeting for contractors to learn more about the process of becoming certified in the State of Ohio’s Encouraging Diversity, Growth, and Equity (EDGE) program.
