Smialek Named Superintendent of Euclid Schools

SMIALEK NAMED SUPERINTENDENT OF EUCLID SCHOOLS
Euclid, OH-- On February 22, 2016, the Euclid Board of Education accepted Keith M. Bell’s resignation for retirement effective June 30, 2016. At Monday night’s Special Board Meeting, Dr. Charles Smialek was appointed to the position of Superintendent of Euclid Schools. The three-year contract will be effective July 1, 2016. Euclid Board of Education President, Donna Sudar said, “Dr. Smialek will provide a new sense of clarity and direction for Euclid City Schools as he implements change that will support academic achievement for all Euclid students.”
Dr. Charles Smialek currently works as the Assistant Superintendent of schools. Dr. Smialek is a Euclid High School alumnus and has been working in the district since 1999. Charles began his career as a middle school social studies teacher. He has since worked as a middle school assistant principal, high school assistant principal, middle school principal and in 2009 became the Euclid High School principal.
"I am both humbled and excited to become the next Superintendent of our school district. As a graduate of Euclid High School and a former teacher and administrator in our schools, I can proudly testify to the power of the education we provide.” Dr. Smialek earned a bachelor’s degree in history from The Ohio State University, a master’s degree in secondary education from Kent State University and holds a doctorate in educational administration from Kent State University.
The Euclid Board of Education is eager to continue to move the district forward, “We believe that Dr. Smialek will provide the leadership our district needs as we continue to address student achievement in a fiscally responsible manner,” said Board President Sudar.
“I look forward to collaborating with all of ‘Our Euclid’ to ensure that we structure excellence in every lesson, every day, for every student," says Smialek.
