January is National School Board Recognition Month! Euclid Schools’ Board of Education Members are dedicated parents, friends, community members and so much more. School Board Member, Steve Johnson Jr. has been involved with Euclid Schools for over 30 years and was elected to the Board of Education in November of 2015 (began serving in January of 2016).
1.) What is your favorite restaurant in Euclid?
“Chipotle will be our favorite restaurant once construction is completed because my kids would eat it every day if I let them.
2.) How long have you been part of Euclid Schools?
“I attended Noble Elementary, Forest Park and Euclid High School. After my military service and living in several other states, I settled in Euclid with my wife and six children. So I have been a resident for over 30 years.”
3.) What do you do for a living?
“I am a licensed Insurance Agent and Certified Mercedes Benz Consultant.”
4.) Why did you want to be a School Board Member?
“I saw things on a visit when my oldest son was a freshman at the high school that upset me. It was the catalyst that pushed me to action. I wanted to get involved to help bring about a culture of achievement and excellence Euclid once enjoyed and is very capable of achieving again.”
5.) What is your best memory/ favorite story about Euclid Schools?
“My sophomore year at Euclid High School, I won ‘Outstanding Sophomore’ for making to the Ohio State High School Cross Country Championship meet. A close second would be the night of the November 2015 election in which I trailed both candidates, and came from behind to win a true David and Goliath story. The community had spoken they wanted change and they wanted it now, rather than later which they deserve, for supporting our schools so faithfully all these years.”
