Stadium Project/ Early Learning Village
In accordance with the City requirements, Patrick Higley (Euclid Schools Business Director), Architectural Vision Group (architect for the Memorial Park and Early Learning Center Projects), and Lewis Land Professionals (civil engineer) appeared before the Planning and Zoning Committee. Four variances for the Early Learning Village and two variances for the stadium portion of the project were brought before the Planning and Zoning Committee and unanimously approved (see attached pdf
). The next steps for this process will be to present to the City's Architectural Review Board on February 23, 2017
A common misconception of the project is that the district is putting "athletics" before education. As a reminder, the stadium, Memorial Park, and Early Learning Village portions of the project will continue to move faster as they are locally funded initiatives.
Middle School/High School
After a thorough process to select the architect for the middle/ high school Then Design Architecture (TDA)
was unanimously chosen. Currently, we are waiting on the OFCC to file the proper paperwork and then the Board of Education will approve the official contract.
Then Design Architects have hit the ground running. Several planning meetings have occurred between TDA and the district. We have focused on sharing the vision of the project and providing TDA with a backdrop for how we intend on the facilities to help drive student achievement through expanded academic and career technical opportunities. In addition, we are emphasizing the desire to make the new structure an 18-hour a day campus to better serve the community's needs. On February 21st, Then Design Architecture will be spending the day at Euclid High School to observe a typical day from drop-off to pick-up and everything in between. Additionally, TDA will be hosting an Educational Visioning Session with fifty to sixty school and city personnel, community members, parents, and students. This meeting will occur on March 10th and will set the stage for TDA to begin design development of the building to accommodate the programming needs of the district.
The final interviews for the Construction Manager will be held on February 27, 2017, and a final decision will be reached on March 5, 2017. The short list now includes The Albert Higley Company, Hammond Construction, and Gilbane Ozanne.
