The Weekly Callout Nov. 22

Dear Euclid Families,

We strive to prepare your children for their future as they attend Euclid Schools. Euclid High School’s College Application Day celebrates that hard work.

Superintendent and students at College Application DayEuclid High School Seniors applied online met with college representatives in the morning and received an admission decision in the afternoon.  The six-year tradition encourages students to think of college and celebrates their admission as guidance counselors and administrators give each an “Accepted” T-shirt.  And on the back the t-shirt states, “The Best College Students Come From Euclid Schools.”

“It’s a really fun day. To see the students get that instant feedback is pretty amazing to see. It’s a special day for our students,” said Katie Gonakis, chair of the high school’s guidance department. “I feel it has a bigger meaning than just being accepted to college.  We’re trying to just embrace our students and let them know we care about them and their future.”

More than 170 seniors requested transcripts as they prepared for College Application Day. Congratulations to students who were admitted and good luck with your future plans.

Watch this video to learn more about College Application Day and hear from a few of our students.

Congratulations also to this year’s National Junior Honor Society inductees at Central Middle School.

The middle school inducted 15 students into the NJHS chapter. National Junior Honor Society recognizes students’ commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. Membership also challenges students to develop further by staying actively involved in school activities and community service.

Visit our website to see names and pictures of the inductees. Thank you to Euclid High School National Honor Society members for organizing the induction ceremony.

College Application Day and the NJHS induction are examples of how our children are excelling in the Euclid Schools.

News from Around the District

Our next Euclid Board of Education meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at Arbor Elementary School. I encourage Arbor families to attend, hear a presentation about the school and honor its students, staff, faculty and parents of the month.

8th grade career fair - police officer and studentArea companies volunteered this week to take part in an eighth grade career fair at Euclid High School.

The annual career fair lets children learn about different jobs available in the area and ask questions. School counselors believe that career fair get students to think about careers before they start planning for high school courses, programs, and graduation pathways.

Participants included several area companies, the Euclid Police Department and the Euclid Fire Department.  We value these community partnerships - thank you to everyone that joined us.
