K-8 Schools
All Euclid schools are currently aligning their curriculum to meet the Common Core State Standards in English/Language Arts and Mathematics as well as the revised Academic Content Standards for Science and Social Studies. Implementation of these new standards will begin in the fall of 2013 in preparation for new state tests that are required in 2014.
Elementary Schools (Grades K-5)
The elementary schools in Euclid support a strong foundation of social and academic skills that prepare students for success as they progress through our district. Teachers work collaboratively to plan engaging and challenging work for all students, often differentiated to fit each child's individual learning needs. All schools utilize Pearson's Reading Street Curriculum for Reading and Writing instruction. Students are challenged through our "Everyday Mathematics" program. Art, Music, Physical Education and Technology are also richly integrated into each of our four elementary schools.
Middle Schools (Grades 6-8)
The middle school programs in Euclid are built to ensure students' academic success and socioemotional development. Students rotate through an eight period schedule featuring five core subjects, two enrichment periods, and lunch. Teachers collaborate in a team format to ensure consistent procedures, monitor student progress and plan interdisciplinary experiences for their students. Further, teachers also work in subject matter departments to ensure proper curriculum alignment to state standards and devise lessons and assessments that will maximize students' academic achievement. In addition to instructional programs, the middle schools offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including interscholastic sports, National Junior Honor Society, student council, and a student newspaper.
