Welcome to Roosevelt Elementary

Hello Roosevelt Families!

The students are learning and using different strategies during Making Meaning and Guided Reading. One of the strategies they are using in the classroom is visualization.  The children close their eyes and make "mind pictures" while their teacher reads parts of the story to them.  It's interesting to have them describe what they picture when listening to the story.  The students are also making inferences when they are reading.  This means that they are reading between the lines and using their past experiences to figure out what is happening in the story.  An example of this: The character is happy because she is smiling in the story.  Try these strategies at home with your children.  Please take the time to read daily with your children.
