Athletic Field progress and timelines

The Athletic Field complex is progressing as scheduled. Many of you may have noticed that the new diamond 6 has been partially completed. The playing surface was complete before Father's Day to accommodate the annual Euclid Boys League Father's Day weekend tournament. Currently, a temporary back stop is in place, as the new fencing will be installed this fall. We will begin construction on the new varsity softball field in mid July. The location will be just west of where field 4 currently sits. It will feature a brick back stop that will be topped with mesh netting, a crushed red brick infield and warning tracks in addition to dugouts and new bleachers. All will be ready to go by late August. The 300 foot men's softball field will begin in mid-august after the Men's League season ends. This field will not only be used for softball, but will be a multi-use facility on which baseball can be played. It too will feature a crushed red brick infield and dugouts. We anticipate having this third and final field ready by late September.

Progress is also being made on the three multi-purpose football/ soccer fields. The field in the park will be the first to be completed. The surface will be stabilized with a concrete mixture by July 4th and drainage installation will soon follow. After the drainage is complete, the field is topped with a stone mix and the actual field surface is installed immediately after. This field will be permanently marked for soccer with temporary lines that can be added for football. The field will also have the flexibility to accommodate two soccer fields that stretch from sideline to sideline for youth soccer games and practice. This field will be the largest of the three and will feature lush landscaping as the border around he playing surface. The field will be playable by August 1st, with landscaping and sidewalks coming this fall and next spring.

Dibiasio Field will be next to finish. We expect an August 15th completion date for the playing surface and renovated track. Dibiasio will serve as the home for all but three varsity football games this year. It will also be the middle school home field and the varsity and middle school track. Temporary bleachers to sit roughly 1200 will be placed before football season and the property will eventually host 350 on the visitors side and roughly 2000 on the home side. The remaining bleachers will be moved to the park around the new ball diamonds. Dibiasio Field is nearly complete with the drainage process and has already received the final stone topping along the sideline area. Within 17 days or so, the final surface will begin installation just in time for Panther soccer and football.

Finally, the finish grading is being completed on the new stadium just outside the Doc Daugherty Gymnasium. Field stabilization will wrap up next week. Drain lines still need to be installed after that and we hope to have the surface ready for install by late August. In the meantime, light poles, bleachers, a scoreboard and sitework completion will progress beginning the second week in July. Foundations will be poured and major excitement will build leading to the October 1st projected completion date. This will be in time to host soccer games and the final three home football games.

Behind the scenes, planning continues for the Early Learning Village and the new secondary complex. We are finalizing floor plans and schematic drawings. We expect this process to be complete in late September or early October. School administrators, teachers, and staff have been and will be involved in this process leading to the final product. At that point, construction bids will be released and construction will begin in early spring. We expect the Early Learning Village and the middle school wing in the secondary facility to be completed in time for the August 2019 school year. The high school will be done by August 2020.

The excitement continues in #OurEuclid. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that the rainy days stay away as often as they can.
