Starting in fourth grade, Euclid Schools students have the opportunity to begin learning an instrument through the District's Instrumental Music Program.
Fourth-grade students may join the String Orchestra and choose from violin, viola or cello. Fifth-grade students may participate in either Band or Orchestra, with options including violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion. No previous music experience is required.
Families interested in the program are encouraged to attend one of two upcoming Parent Information Nights. The first will be held Wednesday, September 2 at 6 p.m. at Shoreview Elementary for Shoreview and Bluestone families. The second will take place Thursday, September 3 at 6 p.m. at Chardon Hills Elementary for Arbor and Chardon Hills families.
Registration forms are due by September 10, with in-school small group lessons beginning the week of September 14. School-loaned instruments will be available for pickup on September 15 from 4–6 p.m. at Euclid Middle School.
Euclid is fortunate to have such a robust music education program, as few schools offer instrumental music at the elementary or middle school level. Our Band teacher, Mrs. Keehn, and Orchestra teacher, Mrs. Reik, are both accomplished music educators and help lead this excellent program.
Learning an instrument gives students an opportunity to build confidence, teamwork and musical skills while becoming part of Euclid's strong music program. Check out the flyer for complete registration information and important dates.
