Euclid High School celebrated six members of the Class of 2026 during its Summer Commencement ceremony Wednesday evening, recognizing Students whose determination and perseverance helped them reach such an important milestone.
Three graduates were able to attend the ceremony in person, while some of their classmates were unable to participate because they have already begun the next chapter of their education in college.
The ceremony opened with graduates and Euclid Schools administrators entering the Early Learning Village Auditorium to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance, followed by a welcome from Euclid High School Principal Dr. Ari Hayes.
“Along this journey, they were not alone,” Dr. Hayes told graduates and their families. “This journey was not an easy path. However, with the love of their family, the guidance of the school district, and their own fortitude, these young people have earned the right to become a high school graduate.”
Dr. Hayes recognized the additional commitment required of the summer graduates, who continued working toward their diplomas while many of their peers were enjoying summer break.
“You chose to sacrifice your free time, stay focused, and do whatever it took to earn your high school diploma,” she said. “You didn’t just finish your high school career. You overcame every obstacle that stood in your way.”
Board of Education President Gabrielle Kelly formally certified the graduating class before diplomas were presented by Euclid High School Counselor Sara Mattinson, who is herself a former summer graduate. As each graduate crossed the stage, they were welcomed and congratulated by Dr. Hayes and members of the Board of Education.
Superintendent Karen Brown then formally presented the Class of 2026 and invited the graduates to move their tassels, marking the completion of their high school careers.
The ceremony concluded as graduates, Board members and administrators processed out to Pomp and Circumstance, followed by Kool & the Gang’s “Celebration.”
Summer Commencement offered one more opportunity to celebrate the perseverance of the Class of 2026 and the six students who stayed focused on their goals, earned their diplomas and are now ready for what comes next.
