Euclid, OH – September 5, 2025 – Students from Euclid High School’s Career-Based Intervention (CBI) 9/10 program are demonstrating the power of career-focused learning and community service through a new partnership with the Euclid Animal Shelter.
On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, a group of CBI students spent their late morning assisting shelter staff with vital daily tasks. From cleaning floors and crates to refreshing food and water bowls, handling laundry, and supporting general maintenance, students contributed to the shelter’s operations while gaining firsthand work experience.
“This is what Career-Based Intervention is all about,” said CBI instructor Mr. Bluffestone. “Students are applying responsibility, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a real-world environment, while also giving back to the community.”
The opportunity was made possible through collaboration between Mr. Bluffestone and shelter volunteer coordinator Bobbi Mastri. After an initial site visit, the two worked together to create a structured volunteer experience tailored to CBI students.
The September 3rd visit is the first in a series of planned service days, with additional groups of students scheduled to volunteer on future Wednesdays. These recurring visits are designed to strengthen the connection between classroom instruction and career readiness, while also reinforcing the district’s commitment to community partnerships.
“Any time our students can engage directly in meaningful work experiences, they are building confidence and skills that will serve them long after high school,” said Principal Corey Russell. “We are proud of the initiative shown by our CBI program and grateful to the Euclid Animal Shelter for opening its doors to our students.”
Through partnerships like this, Euclid High School continues to expand opportunities for students to explore career pathways, develop employability skills, and make a positive impact in the community.
