VERY VERY Important parents/guardians. We are getting into "cold season!" We really need all of our Panthers to have coats and eventually hats/gloves, etc. This is very important for the safety of our kids! If a child doesn't have a coat we will keep them in from recess and contact you. Further incidents could result into discipline, etc. Our rule is that we will be outside for atleast a short period of time at 20 degrees over above (wind chill). Kids need fresh air and movement each and every day that it is possible. Thank you for your attention to this.

We are experiencing a power outage at most of our schools. We are in contact with the power company to determine the extent and estimated duration of the outage. We will communicate with you as we learn more. We will finish the school day with normal dismissal procedures.

This afternoon we looked at our Culture and Climate in the building and our discipline data. We are going to be starting our PBIS "CHECK IN and CHECK OUT" with some of our Panthers through a mentoring program. This will be a big help/resource for our students.

Students are taking some time in P.E. to learn how to tie their shoes! This is great for fine motor skill and cognitive development, patience, persistence, independence, personal responsibility and more. Students who already know how to tie are becoming leaders in the classroom and helping their classmates. This is a life skill that will prepare them for other tasks as they get older. Thank you Mrs. Strimpel for putting this lesson together! I'm sure parents and teachers are appreciative! :) ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ๐Ÿ†

Fifth grade students have been studying ecosystems this week specifically organisms in our local ecosystems. Student traced the flow of energy in ecosystems through examining food chains and food webs. They dissected owl pellets to find evidence of the organisms found in an owlโ€™s ecosystem and examine predator/prey relationships. As a culminating activity, we brought in the naturalist and the owl to teach the kids more!!! The owls names are Nigel and Luna! ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿฆ‰ Thank you to Mrs. Nelson and the 5th grade teachers for setting this up for the kids. Great learning experience.

In Sklarekโ€™s room in my CKLA the students are learning about the Inca, Aztec, and Maya civilizations. After their whole class instruction, students paired off into different flexible seating stations in the classroom to start their Ancient Americans Test Review. Outside of the standard curriculum, todayโ€™s lesson focused on giving students choice in their learning process.

In Mrs. Spohn's 1st grade class as part of their Knowledge Domain of Early Asian Civilizations, Second Graders followed the STEM design process to make seals. These clay seals were used to represent writing in the Indus River Valley over 4,500 years ago. This was a great assignment for our Panthers!
