Euclid, OH – July 24, 2025 — Upon the announcement of retirement by current Euclid City School District Superintendent Christopher Papouras, the Euclid Board of Education is initiating a search for its next superintendent, with a commitment to building on recent accomplishments and ensuring broad community input throughout the process. The Board of Education encourages staff, families, students, and community members to participate in upcoming feedback opportunities designed to shape the profile of the district’s next leader.

“Over the past several years , Euclid has achieved remarkable milestones that have positioned our district for sustained success,” said Euclid School Board President Gabrielle Kelly. “We are now, with Chris’s support, looking to hire our next superintendent to continue fulfilling the vision and mission of the District.”

This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for the district, providing an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the dedicated teachers, administrators, and support staff whose tireless commitment has driven this progress.

During Superintendent Papouras’ tenure, Euclid schools experienced a period of transformative progress that significantly improved student outcomes and enhanced district stability. Key highlights include:

  • All schools successfully exited the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s (DEW) academic watch list;

  • A 11.5% increase in four-year graduation rates since the Class of 2020—including a 7.6% gain for Students with Disabilities.

  • Consistent year-over-year reductions in student disciplinary referrals and associated interventions;

  • Annual PBIS District Recognition Award for excellence in school climate and student behavioral supports;

  • Strategic staffing analysis and planning to equip the district for success and innovation  in today’s evolving educational landscape;

  • Strengthened community relationships, city-schools collaboration, and meaningful partnership with the Euclid Schools Foundation;

  • Multiple union contracts were resolved with a student-centered approach that restored market competitiveness and equity.

As the district looks ahead, the Board remains focused on honoring this momentum and ensuring that the next superintendent will champion the values, strengths, and aspirations of the Euclid community.
