On Tuesday, seniors in Euclid High
School’s Allied Health Career Tech Program reached an important milestone as they were trained and evaluated by professional PCNA trainers from Cleveland Clinic. This rigorous evaluation was required for students to qualify for the upcoming PCNA (Patient Care Nursing Assistant) experience taking place this January.
To earn their invitation, students completed a comprehensive skills assessment demonstrating competence in a wide range of hands-on healthcare tasks. These included safely removing IVs and catheters, applying soft restraints, performing incontinence care, obtaining specimens, and demonstrating proper safety protocols and life-saving measures. Each task mirrored real-world expectations in a clinical setting, ensuring students were prepared to meet professional healthcare standards.
We are proud to share that every Allied Health
senior successfully passed the skills evaluation and has been officially invited to work on Cleveland Clinic hospital floors as a student PCNA. Through this experience, students will gain invaluable clinical exposure and have the opportunity to meet with Cleveland Clinic talent acquisition staff, opening doors for potential employment after graduation.
Beyond their technical skill, Euclid students left a strong impression on the trainers, who praised their professionalism and preparedness. Feedback included comments such as, “I have been in many schools, and I have to say your students were so professional and mature,” and “It was more like teaching them a refresher than training – very knowledgeable.” Trainers also described the group as “awesome” and “impressive.”
This achievement reflects the strength
of Euclid’s Allied Health program and its commitment to preparing students for meaningful, in-demand careers. Our students not only represented Euclid Schools with pride, but also proved they are ready to succeed in real healthcare environments – making an impact today and building pathways for tomorrow.
