The Board Meeting Breakdown - June 10, 2026.  A recap of what took place at the Board Meeting this Week

The Euclid Board of Education met on June 10th, 2026 in the Board Room at the Fordyce Administration Building at 6:00 pm.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Board Vice-President Selina Wright, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Four Board Members were present, Board President Gabrielle Kelly was unable to attend the meeting.

The Board reviewed and accepted the agenda for the evening, making several minor adjustments to personnel items.

The Board adopted the minutes for the May 13th and 27th, 2026 Board Meetings.

Proclamation for Retirees

  • Mr. Tim Rosenbaum, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Operations, read a proclamation that the Board approved:

  • Proclaimed commendation for the retiring staff and faculty members for the 2024-2025 school year. The commendation recognized each retiree and congratulated & thanked them for their many years of service to Euclid and its students.  Those retirees include:

Reports and Recommendations of the Treasurer

  • This portion of the meeting covered the District’s financial data for May. Euclid Schools Treasurer Patrick Higley led the Board Members through District Financial Statements.

  • The Board approved the Monthly Financial data and Then & Now Listing.

  • The Board approved the Euclid Public Library Board Budget for 2027. The Board of Education acts as the fiscal agent for the Library for the County Tax Commission.

  • The Board approved temporary appropriations through September 30, 2026. This is an annual requirement from the Cuyahoga County Tax Commission that provides spending authority until the permanent appropriations are established and submitted to the tax commission.

  • The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the OPBA and the Board of Education.


Reports and Recommendations of the Superintendent

  • Personnel

    • The Board approved changes to Certified and Classified personnel in the form of resignations, terminations, retirements, permanent substitute appointments, non-teaching appointments, non-teaching assignments, extra duty, athletic duty, athletic duty resignations, and leaves.

      • In this action, Dr. Ariel Hayes was appointed as the next principal of Euclid High School.

    • The Board approved clarifying terms of separation with a former employee.

  • Contracts/Agreements

    • The Board approved an agreement with McKeon Education Group to provide Title I Summer Instructors to students at Villa Angela-St. Joseph.

  • Routine Business

    • The Board approved the purchase of general liability insurance, property insurance, commercial auto insurance and cyber risk insurance from Ohio School Plan through Love Insurance for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

    • The Board approved Facility Requests for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 School Year.

  • Miscellaneous

    • The Board approved the Summer Curriculum Work to create curriculum maps aligned to instructional pacing and assessment with the district adopted curriculum.

  • Policies

    • The Board approved policies and revisions regarding:

      • Class Rank

      • Web Accessibility, Content, Apps & Services

      • Continuity of Organizational Operations Plan

      • Drug and Alcohol Testing of Employees without CDL Licenses Who Transport Students in Alternative Vehicles

  • Superintendent’s Informal

    • Superintendent Karen Brown encouraged students to read throughout the summer and encouraged everyone to visit the newly renovated Euclid Public Library. She also mentioned the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge which started last week, but can still be joined.

    • Mrs. Brown also advised that the Euclid Schools will be participating in the E. 185th St. Walk and Stroll.

New Business/Old Business

  • The Board rejected a resolution to place a 6.75-mill tax levy on the ballot for the November 3, 2026 election. This is the first of two votes required to place a levy on the ballot.
