This was the last full week of Attendance Awareness Month, and Euclid Schools continued sharing a message that matters all year: Every Panther, Every Day. Each day in school gives students time to learn, build relationships and keep moving toward their goals.
Attendance Awareness Month may be coming to a close, but our commitment continues. If your family is facing a barrier to regular attendance, please reach out to your child’s school. We’re here to help every Panther make the most of every school day.
At Bluestone Elementary, that message came with a special visit. On Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns Foundation, the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network and Browns long snapper Rex Sunahara stopped by to take over a classroom.
The Browns chose to recognize Bluestone for its improvement in chronic absenteeism on the latest State Report Card. They also recognized intervention specialist Ms. Florence Masella, an integral member of Bluestone’s attendance team, for her work helping the school make those gains.
After Principal Cheree Mason introduced the Browns staff, Sunahara joined students for an afternoon of activities.
First, students wrote a personal goal inside a paper goalpost and listed the steps they could take to reach it on down markers. While Students worked on their goal-setting exercise, they also got to explore the swag bags gifted by the Browns. The Browns-themed backpacks were filled with goodies like Browns sunglasses, shirts and stuffed animals.
After presenting some of their goals, Sunahara led the students through a colorful sand art activity. They used bottles full of colored sand to fill clear containers shaped like footballs, stars and panther paws.
The surprises continued when the Browns presented Ms. Masella, Mrs. Mason and Assistant Director of Student Services for Enrollment and Engagement Jerimie Acree with tickets to Sunday’s home opener against the Carolina Panthers. To close the visit, Sunahara joined Mrs. Mason, Ms. Masella and Assistant Principal Mario Snowden for a schoolwide clap-out, greeting students with high-fives as they celebrated attendance together.

The Browns and their partner Eaton also treated Bluestone staff to a catered lunch and gave each staff member a Browns coffee mug in recognition of their work. Thank you to our partners for celebrating Bluestone’s progress and the people who help students get to school each day. Attendance Awareness Month is drawing to a close, but our commitment to Every Panther, Every Day continues.
