Our Issue 5 Levy Information Series continues with a look at the reductions already made and what could be affected without additional revenue.

Last year, Euclid City Schools reduced its budget by $3.5 million through reductions in purchased services and staffing, including 47 positions across the district. During those reductions, Euclid Schools tried to avoid cuts that would impact the student experience.

Separately, the district refinanced its building bonds, saving taxpayers $5 million.

Without additional revenue, further reductions would likely extend beyond basic classroom instruction. Areas that could be affected include extracurricular programs, student clubs, electives, on-campus College Credit Plus, athletics, music, transportation beyond state minimum requirements and class sizes.

We’re sharing this information to help residents understand the district’s financial outlook and the proposed operating levy on the November 3 ballot.

Our Issue 5 Levy Information Series continues with a look at how past funding decisions shaped the district’s current financial outlook.

In 2021, Ohio adopted the bipartisan Fair School Funding Plan, with funding phased in over several years. Counting on the state’s share, the Euclid Board of Education chose not to renew a separate $5.2 million levy in 2022.

The funding provided through the 2025 state budget fell short of what was committed. Without additional revenue, district projections show expenses exceeding revenue by 10% next year.

This timeline provides context for why Euclid City Schools is seeking new operating revenue through Issue 5, the proposed 6.75-mill continuing operating levy on the November 3 ballot.

One missed day may not seem like much, but absences can add up quickly. Missing just one day every other week equals approximately 18 days over a 180-day school year, reaching the threshold for chronic absenteeism.

Chronic absenteeism means missing 10% or more of the school year, including both excused and unexcused absences. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to their classmates, keep pace with instruction and build the routines they need for success.

If your family is experiencing challenges that make regular attendance difficult, please contact your student’s school. We are here to help.

Every minute of learning matters! ⏰

Arriving on time helps students begin the day with their classmates, hear important instructions and settle into a successful learning routine. Even a few minutes missed each day can add up over the school year.

Families can help by preparing backpacks and clothing the night before, establishing consistent bedtime and morning routines and planning backup transportation when possible. If your family is facing an attendance barrier, please contact your student’s school. We’re here to help.

Being present means arriving on time and staying through the end of the school day.

An event schedule for September 21-26, 2026. Each day lists the event name, time, and school.
Sixth grade is an important transition point in a student’s education. Students are managing greater independence, more challenging coursework and new expectations while building the habits that will carry them into high school.

Chronic absence at this age can be an early sign that a student is struggling academically, socially or personally. An indicator is not a prediction. It is a signal that families and schools have an opportunity to provide support early.

Regular attendance helps students keep pace with their classes, strengthen relationships with teachers and classmates, and remain connected to the activities that make school engaging.

If your student is experiencing an attendance barrier, please contact their school. Together, we can help them regain momentum and remain on the path toward graduation.

EVERY PANTHER, EVERY DAY. 💙💛

Over the next several weeks, Euclid City Schools will share factual information to help our community understand Issue 5, the district’s proposed 6.75-mill continuing operating levy on the November 3 ballot.

The series will explain what is being proposed, why the district is seeking new operating revenue, what the levy would cost property owners and what could be affected without additional revenue.

Issue 5 would generate approximately $6.87 million annually for day-to-day school operations. The estimated cost is $19.67 per month for each $100,000 of property value.
