
After graduating from Euclid High, Van Monroe went to Miami University and received a degree in graphic design. After college, he went on to work a 9-5 job making six figures. He realized that his true passion was in art and quit his job to follow his dreams. Van fell on hard times, but continued to follow his passion and began designing custom shoes. In 2008 he designed a custom Obama shoe and his life changed. Van began to receive calls about interviews, recognition and celebrities wanting their own custom shoes, including Fat Joe, Vice President Harris and Nicki Minaj. His notorious customized Obama shoe is now a part of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African-American History.


Florence "Flo Jo" Griffith Joyner was a Olympic Gold Medalist and known as the fastest woman to run the 100m and 200m sprints. Her unique style - long nails and colorful one legged suits made her stand out against her opponents.


Leslie Odom, Jr. is a multifaceted Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer - spanning Broadway, television, film and music. He is best known for his role as Aaron Burr in the smash hit Broadway musical Hamilton. After taking a break from Broadway, Odom recently returned to produce and star in the revival of Purlie Victorious.


The Tuskegee Airmen is about the first all-African-American Air Force squadron during World War II. Although fighting the same battle, the Tuskegee Airmen encounter racism from their white counterparts. As the successful missions mount, the Tuskegee Airmen develop a reputation as an able, fearsome group of pilots.


Written by political leader Stacey Abrams, Stacey's Extraordinary Words is an inspiring tale of determination, based on her own childhood. Stacey loves words and finds comfort in them when things get tough. But, when her teacher nominates her to be in the local spelling bee, Stacey isn't as eager as she anticipated. Stacey learn that whatever the outcome is her words are powerful, and sometimes perseverance is the most important word of all.


Mae Jemison is an African American engineer and former NASA astronaut. In 1992, she became the first African American woman to fly into space. After her time at NASA, she started The Jemison Group, a consulting company that encourages science, technology, and social change. Jemison also began teaching environmental studies at Dartmouth College and directed the Jemison Institute for Advancing Technology in Developing Countries.


Tony Fisher is a 1998 Euclid High School graduate with an extensive history of participating in and administering competitive athletic programs. He was named Ohio’s Mr. Football in 1997. After graduating from EHS, Tony went on to attend and play for Notre Dame University. After college, Fisher entered the 2002 NFL Draft. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Green Bay Packers. He ended his NFL career in 2006 with the St. Louis Rams. Today, Tony Fisher is the Athletic Director where it all started, Euclid Schools.


Ruth E. Carter is a costume designer who works across genres and has brought her skills to more than 60 diverse film and television projects. She is a two-time Academy Award winner, and most known for turning the Black Panther into an African King.


Taraji P. Henson is an American Actress. She is a Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee. She studied acting at Howard University and began her career playing guest roles on several television shows such as Sister, Sister, ER and Saved by the Bell. Some of most known works include starring in Fox's Empire, Hidden Figures, Karate Kid and most recently The Color Purple.


Based on a true story, Hidden Figures follows three brilliant African American female mathematicians who served an essential role in NASA during its beginning years. Watch Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughn make history as they worked at the forefront of NASA to launch John Glenn into orbit.

Calling all Euclid Basketball players, grades 3-8! The Euclid Junior Panthers will be hosting AAU tryouts beginning next week. Meet us at the Euclid Middle School Fieldhouse and show us your skills!

New Board Members Tia Otoo and Evan Botzki were sworn in during this week's Board Meeting.
Board Member Otoo was sworn in first by Judge Anita Laster Mays. Ms. Otoo is a former Euclid City Schools teacher and social worker. Ms. Otoo graduated from Miami University where she received her bachelor's degree in social work. She also has a master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Ursuline College and a master's degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University.
Ms. Otoo has been a strong advocate for Euclid Schools. One of Board Member Otoo's most important goals is to harness the talent of local Euclid businesses and organizations to bridge gaps in education and support systems.
Board Member Botzki was sworn in by State Senator and former Euclid Board Member, Kent Smith. Evan is a lifelong Euclidean and a proud alumnus of Euclid Schools. After graduating from Euclid High School, Evan attended George Mason University where he received a bachelor's degree in Public Administration.
Mr. Botzki has served on several community boards and been a part of organizations such as the Charter Review Commission and the Euclid Historical Society. One of his biggest accomplishments is designing the city's most recent flag.
As a Board Member, Mr. Botzki wants to uplift the community to its fullest potential. "It is my hope to increase communication, so that together we may pursue the highest standards of excellence for our children. I believe that together we may work to ensure that all of us will have the tools that we need to succeed... "

The Euclid Schools are excited to announce the hiring of Damion Creel as the Dean of Secondary Student Mentoring for Euclid Schools. Mr. Creel has an extensive history in education and has a track record of cultivating positive and meaningful relationships with students.
Before joining the Euclid Schools, Mr. Creel spent time as an elementary/middle school Math and Science teacher in both the Columbus and Cleveland areas before transitioning into to a Physical Education and Health teacher at Shaker Heights and Beachwood Schools. In 2020, Mr. Creel began working at Lorain High School as a Credit Recovery Instructor where he mentored students while helping them obtain the credits necessary to graduate. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Hiram College and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
We look forward to having Mr. Creel on the Secondary Campus to further enhance the culture of both Euclid Middle School and Euclid High School. In his role, Mr. Creel will interact with students on a personal level while overseeing the other mentoring specialists in the building. He will help formalize the mentoring programs on campus and provide structural data that will help our Student Services Department analyze the effectiveness of programming.
In addition to his Deanship, Mr. Creel will also serve as the Head Coach of the Football program at Euclid High School. With over 25 years of experience coaching at the high school level, including seven as a head coach, he has proven that he is capable of building winning teams with foundations built upon education and morality.
